ART IS NOT WHAT IS SHOWN TO YOU. ART IS WHAT YOU SEE.

At the heart of my artistic work is the search for atmosphere. I am not interested in the pure image of the visible world, but in the emotional reality behind the motif – those moments between memory and the present, between observation and imagination, between the outer landscape and the inner experience.

My pictorial worlds consciously move between objectivity and abstraction. Urban spaces, nature, figures and symbolic elements serve as the starting point for picturesque stories that give fewer answers than ask questions. A lonely path, a standing city, a figure in the light or a landscape in change become symbols of movement, change, longing and encounter.

Color is my most important means of expression. It not only describes form, but also creates mood, rhythm and tension. Bright contrasts meet dark color spaces, expressive gestures meet calm surfaces. This creates works that oscillate between dynamics and silence, energy and contemplation.

I am particularly fascinated by transitions: between light and darkness, nature and civilization, reality and imagination. Many of my works show places or figures that are in a state of change. They invite the viewer to bring their own experiences, memories and stories into the picture.

I work with acrylic and oil on canvas and understand the painting process as an open dialogue between intuition and design. It is not the perfect reproduction that is in the foreground, but the creation of an independent visual language that makes emotion, atmosphere and personal perception visible.

My works are invitations to discover – multi-layered pictorial spaces that do not open up completely at first glance, but unfold their effect in repeated viewing.

Studio Freiraum

Together with my artist colleague Annette I “live” in the Atelier Freiraum in Apolda. As the name suggests, all the freedom to work creatively prevails here. Both from the side of the square, and in relation to any artistic freedoms. Everything can be thought and created here. But for both of us, freedom also means, especially when we are in the studio, to be free from everyday life with our duties. To be in a place where we can recharge our batteries.

You are welcome to visit us in the studio. We are regularly open on Thursdays from 16:00 to at least 6:00 p.m. here. So that you do not have to stand in front of a closed door, please arrange your visit with us in advance. You can use this contact form for this.
